Vitreo-Retinal Associates was founded by Dr. Charles E. Lyon, who has been in practice since 1987. Dr. Lyon is among the country’s premier retina specialists. His attention and sensitivity to patient concerns, along with his unquestioned knowledge of the retina field, has earned him accolades from patients and peers. In 2004, Dr. Lyon became the first surgeon in our area to perform a 25-gauge vitrectomy for the treatment of patients with severe nonclearing vitreous hemorrhage associated with proliferative diabetic retinopathy. This surgery was performed at Willis-Knighton Medical Center in Shreveport and represents a true advancement in the field of retina/vitreous surgery.
